Explosion-proof units are becoming more and more standard demandof oil and chemical companies. People´s safety is the highest priority. Explosion-proof units started to be hot topic after the tragedy in BP refinery in Texas in 2005 when many people were killed after a huge explosion. Mainly those who were in buildings - killed by debris of construction.

Exxon Mobil as the biggest oil producer in the world was aware of this danger and for the workers in Slagentangen refinery decided to use blast resistant temporary modular buildings. After two months of development with Norwegian partner and Exxon Mobil has Koma introduced explosion proof module in size of 7,43m and 1,3 Psi blast resistance.

Koma passed supplier audit carried out by Exxon Mobil engineers and after inspection of prototype, the serial production of whole project could have begun. Finally, 6 buildings - 47 modules in total were delivered and the main goal was reached - people occupying the buildings are saved against blast.
