Early Childhood Education Centre in Nivnice Demonstrates the Efficiency of Modular Construction

Can a fully equipped educational facility really be completed on site in just five weeks? In Nivnice, the answer is yes. Faced with a tight grant-funded schedule, the municipality chose modular construction as the fastest and most efficient way to deliver a new Early Childhood Education Centre for local families.
The project was awarded through a public procurement process, although the Municipality of Nivnice had already been considering modular construction thanks to its speed, sustainability, flexibility, and minimal impact on the surrounding environment. The new facility accommodates 24 children and demonstrates how modular construction can deliver high-quality educational buildings within exceptionally short timeframes.

One of the key advantages of modular construction is the ability to carry out multiple stages of the project simultaneously. While the foundations were being prepared on site, all building modules were manufactured in parallel at KOMA's production facility in Vizovice. This significantly reduced the overall construction schedule.

The first crane installation day took place on 9 March, marking the start of the on-site assembly. Over the following days, all 10 modules forming the future Early Childhood Education Centre were progressively installed onto the prepared foundation grid. By 19 March, the self-levelling floor screed had already been applied, allowing the interior finishing works to begin immediately afterwards.

During the following weeks, the building received its secondary insulated roof and rendered façade, giving it the appearance of a conventional permanent building. The Early Childhood Education Centre was completed on 15 April, after which the surrounding landscaping and parking facilities were finished.

The new facility is located within the grounds of the existing J. A. Komenský Kindergarten, significantly increasing its capacity. Both the architecture and colour scheme were carefully designed to complement the existing school buildings, allowing the extension to blend naturally into its surroundings.
The project also features high-quality aluminium windows and doors manufactured by KOMA, while large glazed areas provide generous daylight throughout the main activity and resting areas.
To ensure energy-efficient operation and year-round comfort, the building is equipped with a heat pump, photovoltaic system, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, and underfloor heating.

- Cot storage room
- Food preparation and serving area

Completing an entire educational facility on site within only five weeks required careful planning and seamless coordination between all project partners.
