Modular PET Center for the Masaryk Oncology Institute in Brno

Modular construction represents an excellent solution for healthcare thanks to its speed, efficiency, and versatility. A fine example is the nuclear medicine clinic that we installed within a suitable space in the existing premises of the Masaryk Oncology Institute in Brno.

Classification:Healthcare projects
Year of implementation:2025
Client:Masaryk Oncology Institute Brno
Country of implementation:Czech Republic
Technical Specifications: Length of assembly: 2 months
Number of modules: 2
Area: 41 m2

New Hope for Oncology Patients

The modular nuclear medicine clinic uses a modern treatment method based on the radioactive isotope lutetium-177, aimed at destroying tumor cells while protecting healthy tissue. There are currently only a limited number of such clinics in the Czech Republic, which is why we are proud to have contributed—through a unique modular solution—to the creation of another specialized facility applying the most advanced medical methods to improve the quality of life of oncology patients.

Installation with Millimeter Precision

Due to limited site accessibility, the modules were lifted by crane virtually “over the building,” with the placement area requiring millimeter-level precision in both crane operation and installation. We take our hats off to the entire implementation team, who handled the task flawlessly.

Projects like this demonstrate that in certain situations, there is no more suitable solution than modular construction. Although the installation of the modules was technically demanding, it was completed quickly over a single weekend, without disrupting the operation of existing services.

Purpose-Built Modules

Following the successful completion of modular pavilions in Karviná and several smaller clinics, the realization of this nuclear medicine clinic represents another unique project. Given the nature of the treatment method, maximum protection against radiation was essential, while patient and medical staff comfort was an equally important consideration.

The walls are fitted with lead shielding, and the facility also includes doors with integrated lead barriers. The interior spaces of the modules are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, whose implementation and operational preparation were provided by MGP.

Modularity That Makes Sense

Modular buildings for healthcare represent some of the most technologically demanding challenges in the construction industry. However, the growing use of modularity in this segment is a clear signal that, in terms of flexibility, variability, speed of construction, and reduced dust and noise, we will increasingly encounter hospitals, clinics, and medical practices that can dynamically adapt over time in response to their current needs.
